Brief description of the Hajraa Buitententoernooi
Since its first edition in 1979 with 80 competing teams the Hajraa Outdoor Tournament has grown to one of the biggest European volleyball tournaments on grass. Considering the 400 teams of different nationalities playing on more than 100 grounds together with more than 4000 other volleyball lovers and party people on one big camping site and two great parties with more than 15000 litres of beer, this event has grown to almost legendary proportions!
In one week time the sports area and the campus of the Eindhoven University of Technology will transform in the biggest volleyball event of Europe with two full days of volleyball, Saturday afternoon theme-activities and both on Friday and Saturday evenings the biggest and most spectacular parties you can think of with live bands every night.
Besides a group of participants of our neighboring countries we also welcome participants from the rest of the world. In 2000 we welcomed a delegation from Taiwan and in 2001 Romanian students won the final of the Open Dutch Student Championship Grass volleyball. In 2007 we got surprised by the participation of a team from Canada! In 2010 Haifa University won the overall Open Dutch Student Championship and they continued their success in 2011.
This well known volleyball tournament with international fame is one of the biggest in Europe and is organized by students of the Eindhoven Student Volleyball Club Hajraa. Hajraa is a club that is active in the regional and national volleyball competition and organises lots of activities that are related to volleyball and having fun.

De Kaleidoscoopdag is een landelijk wiskundesymposium dat elk jaar aan een andere universiteit wordt georganiseerd. In 2015 zal deze dag plaatsvinden aan de Universiteit Twente. De Kaleidoscoopdag zal als thema Veiligheid en Beveiliging hebben.
Verschillende sprekers zullen met een wiskundige blik op het thema Veiligheid en Beveiliging ingaan. Er zullen lezingen zijn over zeer uiteenlopende onderwerpen binnen dit thema, waaronder cryptografie en het gebruik van wiskunde bij het ministerie van Defensie. Meer informatie over de sprekers en de lezingen is hier beschikbaar.
Voor het bijwonen van het symposium, inclusief volledig verzorgde lunch en drankje na afloop, zal een kleine bijdrage van €3,- gevraagd worden. Voor studenten van buiten Enschede bestaat de mogelijkheid om de reiskosten te declareren. Kijk hier voor de voorwaarden.

From 17.00 till 21.00 you are able to start with your group from GEWIS. At GEWIS you will receive a piece of paper with all mathematical puzzles that will guide you through the Geocache. By solving these puzzles, you will be able to find numbers and unlock coordinates that guide you further. However, sometimes a clue is needed in order to complete the puzzle, which can be found at that coordinate. By solving the puzzles you walk over and near the TU/e Campus. Finally, after finishing all, GEWIS will be open for a nice warm beverage or a well-deserved beer! See you there!"

Clothing could look a little different in reality. The board could decide at the end of the order period to not order some of the items (yet), perhaps because the minimum order amount isn’t reached. Orders can be put in on the website or on the screen at GEWIS. The prices of the items are maxima and probably will turn out lower, the endprice will be calculated at the end of the order period and then the money will have to be transferred immidiatly. Volgende week donderdag wordt tijdens de borrel het jaarboek gepresenteerd en uitgereikt. Wij van de commissie hebben hard gewerkt en zijn ontzettend in onze nopjes met het resultaat. Rond zeven uur, na afloop van de borrel, lijkt het ons erg gezellig om na het borrelen, het in ontvangst nemen van het boek en het vullen van andermans boeken met goede verhalen, met zijn allen in de stad te dineren. Voor wie wil is er dus de mogelijk om met ons te vertrekken naar Café Spijker om dat met zijn allen lekker te eten en na te praten. Het eten à 15 euro is dan wel voor eigen rekening.

Saturday: hichhike to Berlin in diads, where we arrive around dinner time. The first couple to arrive gets the GELIFT-trophy! In the evening we visit the city and end at the camping site.

During an evening filled with interesting statements and (hopefully not too) harsh debating, we try to get to know what both students and staff think about the educational direction we should be heading in. And to make it even more interesting, joining is for free, and drinks and dinner are included!
The debate will take place in MF11/12 from 17:45 until 21:00. Registration is necessary, student can register online, staff can register by sending a mail to co@gewis.nl. We are also looking for people that like to give the first (contra-)argumentation for one or several statements. So try your luck at the Eindhoven Algorithmic Programming Contest on the 27th of September and maybe be able to join the Benelux Algorithmic Programming Contest on the 19th of October!
You can enroll on http://gehack.nl with a team consisting of at most three persons! If you want to join, but you do not have a team, you can always email us at gehack@gewis.nl. We will also post more information about the EAPC on our webpage.
For the first years, there is a bonus if you join in! For the course on programming, you can cross off an extra exercise of the homework. Normally, only the worst grade doesn't count, but, because the teachers want you to join in, if you join the EAPC the worst 2 grades won't count.

On Monday the 15th of September, Study Association GEWIS will convene her 140th General Meeting. Hereby all of her members are invited to attend this meeting as the Code of Conduct article 4 demands.
Up until 4 days prior to the meeting, members can suggest items to be discussed in this meeting. The agenda, minutes and other papers will become available next week. They will also be posted on our website, under http://gewis.nl/leden/stukken.
If you are an English speaking member and want to attend this meeting, please notify us in time. The GM is usually in Dutch but might be held in English if there is enough demand.
Around 17:00 there will be a possibility to eat something at GEWIS. This will cost around 6 euros. If you would like to order food for this, you should register to do so before Monday the 15th of September 13:00. Soon there will be the possibility to do so on the GEWIS-website.
Those who will not be there can deliver an authorisation. Please note that, in accordance to the Code of Conduct article 5, an authorisation needs to be on paper and needs to be signed by the appropriate person.
